Editing at Click
What does editing involve? Generally speaking, it means correcting and proof-reading a text in any given language. But it can also mean checking translations. What many readers don’t realise is that even the most gifted of writers, Nobel prize winners such as Gabriel García Márquez for instance, have their books edited and proofed before they go to print. And they, after all, set down their own ideas in their own language. How much more important, then, is it to double-check translated texts, whose authors not only have to convert messages from one language to another, but convey someone else’s ideas. Under those conditions, two pairs of eyes are always better than one.
